NIE Awards

  
 
The 2024 National Industry Excellence Awards were held at 12 PM on March 5.
New judging procedures were incorporated this year having each category judged by 2 groups
  • Group 1 - Panel of industry experts for that particular category voted on their top choice
  • Group 2 - SPFA Members - A voting Rep from each member company cast a vote in each of the 7 categories.
Vote is based on overall merit of the project taking into account the criteria defined here.
In the event of a tie, the panel of judges will vote on the projects with tied scores to determine winner.


Winners and runners up were selected from the following categories:


Building 
Enclosure SPF less than 40,000 sq ft 
- Spray foam insulation installed in a commercial, institutional, industrial or mixed-use buildings in assemblies such as interior or exterior surfaces of walls, beneath floors, ceilings, under roof decks, unvented attics, basements, crawlspaces, under-slab or exterior below-grade 

  • Winner: Mrs. Spray Foam - Aiken Railroad Museum Train Car Restoration
  • Runner-up: Peak Spray Foam Insulation - Sacred Heart Chapel


Building Enclosure SPF greater than 40,000 sq ft - Spray foam insulation installed in a residential or multi-family dwelling in assemblies such as interior or exterior surfaces of walls, beneath floors, ceilings, under roof decks, unvented attics, basements, crawlspaces, under-slab or exterior below-grade 

  • Winner: Palmetto Spray Foam, LLC - Air Force Base C-17 Hangar
  • Runner-up: Spray Tex Insulation - Fix and Feed

 

Roof less than 40,000 sq ft Spray foam roofing systems (foam and coatings) installed on the top surface of a low-slope or sloped roof deck on a residential or commercial building where the total sprayed area is less than 40,000 SF. Includes spray foam roof restoration and re-coating. 

  • Winner: West Roofing System, Inc. - Chardon (OH) Building
  • Runner up: Draper Construction and Commercial Roofing - Emporia Humanitarian Center

 

Roof greater than 40,000 sq ft - Spray foam roofing systems (foam and coatings) installed on the top surface of a low-slope or sloped roof deck on a residential or commercial building where the total sprayed area is greater than 40,000 SF. Includes spray foam roof restoration and re-coating. 

  • Winner: Central Coating Company, Inc. - Paseo Plaza HOA Roofing Project
  • Runner-up: Draper Construction and Commercial Roofing - Cloud County Community College

 

Specialty Applications  - Novel or non-traditional applications of SPF insulation or roofing systems not addressed by the four categories above. These can include applications such as underground piping, storage tanks, theatrical stage sets, etc.  

  • Winner: Purefoam Roofing and Insulation - Abbott Nutrition Railway
  • Runner-up: Spray Tex Insulation - Sister Grove RWRRF

 

Elastomeric Roof Coatings  -  Application of elastomeric roof coatings designed for new roof waterproofing installations on substrates other than spray foam. This category is limited to elastomeric coatings defined in SPFA-102. 

  • Winner:  Draper Construction and Commercial Roofing - Life Church OKC
  • Runner-up: West Roofing Systems, Inc. - Valtronic Technologies


Concrete Lifting
 -  Application of a special closed-cell SPF formulation to lift and stabilize concrete slabs and building foundations. . 

  • Winner: Polyseal Insulation, LLC


Small Business Project (NEW THIS YEAR)
 -  The projects submitted by contractors with 5 or fewer field personnel were eligible to win a 2nd Award. The projects were voted on in the appropriate category, and after voting ended, all the Small Contractor projects were ranked according to the number of votes they received. The winner was determined by the highest number of votes.  

  • Winner: Palmetto Spray Foam, LLC - Air Force Base C-17 Hangar
  • Runner-up: Mrs. Spray Foam - Aiken Railroad Museum Train Car Restoration
