SPF, like all other foam plastic insulations, must meet specific performance and installation requirements of model building codes. To assure performance and safety, building codes require that foam plastic insulations are tested by third-party laboratories using standard testing procedures.
While some manufacturers offer these test results upon request, nearly all SPF manufacturers provide a code compliance report. A code compliance report is prepared by an ISO-17065 compliant organization (such as Intertek, ICC-ES, IAPMO and others). This report independently assures code officials and other design professionals that the product has been adequately tested and meets the requirement of specific building codes.
Code compliance reports follow a set of concensus guidelines developed by the International Code Council (ICC-1100) or the Internation Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO-1000)
